Welcome to Crimson Miniature American Shepherds |
Crimson Miniature American Shepherds are dogs that can do it all and live with us in our rural home in southwest Missouri on 15 acres. Our dogs have room to run and play and even have an agility course in the backyard! Our ideal Miniature American Shepherd (also known as MAS) is one that meets the AKC breed standard, has a wonderful temperament, and is 15-16 inches in height. We want a dog that can compete and win in performance events, herding trials, and the conformation show ring and then lay on the couch beside us at night. |
All Crimson Miniature American Shepherds are health tested for genetic issues that have been known to occur in the breed including CEA, CD1, DM, HC, HUU, MDR1, CMR1, NCL6, and PRA-PRCD. Our MAS are also tested for other health and genetic issues like eye issues, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and patellar luxation with OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). All test results and OFA links are shared on each dog's information with their pictures. We are very proud that many of our dogs are in the CHIC Certification Program with OFA for having all of the required tests completed. Our MAS are dual registered with AKC and with UKC so that we can compete in a wide variety of sports – we actively compete in Conformation, Agility, Obedience, Rally Obedience, Scent Work, Fast Cat, and Herding. We have also tried Barn Hunt and Dock Diving. Crimson MAS dogs obtain their Canine Good Citizen (CGC) at a minimum and many have Trick Dog and Farm Dog titles as well. All of our breeding dogs are titled before breeding because we believe that breeding dogs have to show working ability in addition to their beauty. We believe that we owe it to the MAS breed to meet or better the breed standard with every litter we raise. |
Puppy litters are planned carefully and focus is given on producing puppies with correct temperament, health, and conformation based on the written AKC breed standard. We have Miniature American Shepherd puppies for both performance and companion homes. All puppies are raised in our home (not in a kennel) and given tons of attention, stimulation, and experiences using Puppy Culture guidelines so they are the best possible companions for our new families. Everyone who takes one of our puppies home becomes part of our extended family and we love to keep in contact to hear about their exploits. We are always available to answer questions, offer guidance, and cheer you on with your accomplishments. Pictures and updates are shared on our Facebook page, Crimson Miniature American Shepherds. |
According to the AKC breed, standard MAS females can range from 13 inches to 17 inches tall and males can range from 14 inches to 18 inches tall. They weigh around 20 to 40 pounds as adults. The small compact size makes an ideal pet. They are small enough to sit in your lap and go places with you easily but large enough to jump in the truck or go kayaking with you. Miniature American Shepherds are intelligent, loyal, willing to please, and generally easy to train. The breed was originally bred to herd but is so smart and versatile that they absolutely excel in other events as well as make wonderful companions. |
Miniature American Shepherds were previously known as Miniature Australian Shepherds. There was a name change when AKC gave them full recognition and registration in 2015. The Miniature American Shepherd is a smaller version of the Australian Shepherd with Aussies in their background and pedigrees. MAS come in a variety of colors and patterns – just like the Australian Shepherds do. The colors are Red, Black, Red Merle, and Blue Merle with varying amounts of white and copper markings. MAS can also have a variety of eye colors including blue, brown, amber, or hazel. They can also have one eye of each color, marbled eyes, or eyes with flecks of color. |
